This Egyptian zodiac card features Seth (also spelled Set), one of the most complex and controversial deities in ancient Egyptian mythology. The illustration depicts him with his distinctive reddish skin and unique animal head - often called the "Seth animal" - which has long upright ears and an elongated snout. He's shown wearing the traditional blue and gold striped pharaonic headdress, ornate golden collar, and holding a golden staff, standing confidently with one hand on his hip against a backdrop of hieroglyphic temple walls. Seth was the "God of Chaos, Storms, and Conflict" - perhaps the most notorious deity in Egyptian mythology due to his role as the murderer of his brother Osiris. However, he wasn't simply evil; he also served important functions as a protector of Ra's solar barque against the serpent Apophis and as a necessary force of change and challenge in the cosmic order.
