Gemini The Twins (May 22-June 23) are portrayed on this blank note card. The influence of Mercury on this alchemical union of opposites may account for the innate wit, charm and intelligence of the Geminian Twins. Yellow and blue are colors assigned to these joined children. Their assigned metal is Mercury and their element is Air as they balance intuition and rationale and become the creative union of intellect and emotion. Traditionally, the symbol of Gemini, identified with the twin stars Castor and Pollux has been depicted as separate, but identical male figures. To clarify the import of their duality, I chose to portray the twins as the male and female aspects of one entity, much like the double-headed eagle associated with heraldry. However, in place of the eagle, my twins are shown as a double-headed phoenix, a symbol of immortality and indomitable spirit.
