My orchid plant bloomed for the first time in over a decade this summer. It inspired this simple, elegant portrayal of white orchid flowers. The orchid sat on my windowsill, and I loved the translucency of its petals as sunlight shone through them. In the original artwork (this is a digital reproduction of the collage), I layered tracing paper to echo the translucency of the flowers.
