The Jerusalem Cross has been associated with the "Kingdom of Jerusalem" and dates to the second half of the 13th century. The symbolism of the five-fold cross is variously given as the Five Wounds of Christ, Christ and the four evangelists, or Christ and the four quarters of the world. This emblem was also used by the Knights Templars. It is also a popular heraldic device and is often used as a tattoo by those who wish to identify with Jerusalem, the City of God. This design appears to be metallic gold, but this is only a clever illusion. The Jerusalem Cross is on a background of tawny brown and golden yellow. The inside is left blank for you to customize with your own message.
