This 27th birthday card for a granddaughter was inspired by the beautiful tradition of decorating cakes with fresh seasonal flowers, a style I admired while visiting French pātisseries. I was fascinated by the way delicate blooms, soft pastel icing, and handcrafted details combined to create edible works of art. My sketchbook soon filled with floral studies, cake designs, and decorative touches, which later became the inspiration for this whimsical watercolour illustration. Through expressive brushwork and hand-drawn details, I wanted to celebrate the artistry of French baking while creating a joyful, feminine design that perfectly marks a granddaughter's 27th birthday.
