Nearly everyone has seen and has admired the Black Cat poster by Theophile Steinlen, but few know that besides "Le Chat Noir," the artist also painted a handsome black rooster to announce the opening of another Paris cabaret called "Cocorico." Steinlen painted the head of the rooster only, so I added that onto my own original painting in order to show a whole bird. Using the colors and the style of Le Chat Noir, I created a French-style poster to announce the arrival of the Chinese New Year of the Rooster in 2029. This retro art is a fun and creative departure from the traditional Chinese New Year card and will appeal to Asians and Westerners alike.
