Count Giorgio Durante, an Italian artist (1685-1755,) drew a watercolor sketch of a rat which became the inspiration for this Chinese New Year card for the Year of the Rat. The Chinese character for "Rat" appears in red, as does the date 2032, complimenting the dual border of red, and of gold tones which give the appearance of gold foil.
