On Christmans Eve, this beautiful owl was chased into a tree near my hometown library by numerous cawing crows. I was the only one to see it until a person in a parked car came over to look. She noticed the owl, then both of us were at a loss as to what to do. So I called the local newspaper and obtained the number of a raptor rescue home in Camarillo. Luckily a person across the street had a ladder and bird cage large enough to hold the owl. Climbing the ladder, a brave sole went up into the tree and forced the owl to the ground. We knew it was hurt, so I took the owl, cage and all, to be the rescue center. We found out that it had been shot in the wing. It was finally rehabilitated and released.
