| Artist Notes: | I lost my Australian Shepherd almost 4 years ago. She lived to be almost 17 years old, out of sheer will and determination, and in spite of seizures and arthritis. My heart has still not fully mended. I don't think it ever will. Our dogs are the most precious gifts. They give us unconditional love. What more could we ask? I wrote this tribute to her the night she passed away: "Go chase the sheep in the sky, our sweet Dixie Blue. You almost made it to 17 years old livin' on love. Sending you off with all the love our hearts can muster. You were the best dog in the world and I'm forever grateful for the time I had with you. You went through hell and back with me. I will never forget you and will hold you in my heart until the day I die. RIP sweet Dixie Blue... Dec. 4, 1996 - September 26, 2012." I'm sending hugs to any of you who have gone through this heartbreaking experience. It's rough, but we wouldn't be who we are without them. Broken hearts and all. And they have become part of us. |
